About Sestre milosrdnice University Hospital Center

The Sestre milosrdnice University Hospital Center was founded in 1846, making it one of the oldest and largest healthcare institutions in Croatia. It has maintained its reputation and significance for more than 170 years, nurturing the good tradition of Croatian medicine: professional work, scientific research in the field of medical sciences, and the education of students, young doctors, and other healthcare professionals.

It performs healthcare activities at the highest level, respecting the principles of medical ethics and deontology. In addition to diagnostics, treatment, medical rehabilitation and healthcare, it also performs specialist and consultative activities.

KBCSM has an extensive teaching and educational program that takes place at several levels. As a teaching base for the Faculties of Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy-Biochemistry, Philosophy, Education-Rehabilitation, and the Polytechnic of Health, it organizes and conducts undergraduate and postgraduate education for students of these faculties and polytechnics.

Specialist training for young doctors has existed for more than a hundred years, and since 1950 it has had the right to conduct specialist exams in all areas of medicine. It also conducts specialisation in the narrower specialties of health workers. 

The Clinical Hospital Center of the Sisters of Mercy has a total of: 16 clinics and 6 institutes / 3 clinical, Unified Emergency Hospital Admissions, Hospital Pharmacy, Institute for Clinical Medical Research, and non-medical organizsational units.
